Katakis / Glenn Petrie

Personal Information

Katakis is actually Glenn Petrie in the real world. It was claimed that he got his name from a shoot-'em-up from Rainbow Arts, and it turns out that they were right.

Katakis was born in Melbourne, Australia, sharing his household with his sister, who he has a rocky relationship with. After leaving school, he has studied all things multimedia, such as graphic design and animation, 3D modeling, and video production. His specialty is web design, which he is studying as a personal hobby of his. He currently works as a volunteer at a Christian-based charity organization that supports the needy. His favorite hobbies include exercise, watching DVDs, playing computer games, and going to AA meetings (as an observer).

Computer and video games history

His history with computers go back to 1983, when he first learned how to use a Commodore 64 which he stole from his sister. It was the most advanced Commodore computer until the Amiga came along. His first C-64 game he ever played was Cops 'n' Robbers, in which you play a thief who has to steal diamonds while avoiding policemen, all the while trying to crack open a safe and infiltrate a mine inhabited by ghosts. His favorite game for the system was Mr. Angry, a game in which you play a photographer who has to search for several items before he can do a photo shoot with a model.

It wasn't until 1992 when he got his first IBM-PC, equipped with MS-DOS 5.0 / Windows 3.1 / SoundBlaster. His first game on the system was Wolfenstein 3-D, which was the "killer game" at the time and he immediately fell in love with Sierra / LucasArts game after he played King's Quest VI and Monkey Island 2. Two years later, he was introduced to CD-ROM technology and he decided he just had to get CD versions of his favorite games, as well as emulators that can let him relive his glory days, as well as play games that were from other systems. Because he grew up in the Eighties, he has a love for retro games, especially the really simple games, and he doesn't really care about modern games. He now currently owns an iMac, and he doesn't regret changing from PC.

His favorite genres include action, arcade, platform, adventure, and first-person shooters.
