These are the states that a release group of a released game (Release Switch = yes) can be in.

Case 1 --> Officially released; Development finished

This is the standard case. A game's development is finished and it gets released, be it inside a box, as a download or embedded into a web site. Subsequent patches are possible.

Case 2 --> Officially released; closed Beta test

This case occurs mostly with massively multi-player online games (MMO). A beta test is held which only a limited number of players can join.

Case 3 --> Officially released; open Beta test

Like case 2, just the number of beta testers is unlimited.

Case 4 --> Officially released; continuous development

This case is designed for games likeĀ Battle for Wesnoth which are in constant development and see stable releases regularly.

Case 5 --> Unofficially released

This case is for games that never saw an official release, but have a playable version available, from whatever source.
